Hi all,

My girlfriend is pregnant, and this morning we had to go to the hospital for the four-weekly checkup. When we went last time, they had told us to bring a writable DVD, and they they would be able to write the entire echograph to this disc, and then we could then watch it at home as a souvenir.

I did this, and brought an empty DVD-R disc with me. No RW, since R's were the only kind I had at the house at that time, and I didn't think it would matter anyway.

Now I have this disc, but it will not play on anything. I can see data has been written to it though, and Nero reports the session to still be open. When I select 'close session', the disc gets ejected at 2% in the process, and an error is produced (disc error).

I've been trying to finalise this DVD using a couple of programs (like CD Roller), but so far no success.

Anybody got any suggestions for me?

Thanks!

What kind of disc is it? I mean, what type of data is on it? Is it a single video file, or are there VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS folders?

Are you able to play it on your computer at all? If you're still able to see the files when inserting the disc, I'd at least suggest that you copy them all to the hard drive immediately to avoid data loss.

For any type of souvenir DVD like this for Joe Consumer they will be VIDEO_TS/AUDIO_TS type discs so that they play on *most* conventional DVD players.

I'd be trying to get the files off the disc as is like Matt says and then creating a new one.

It's a DVD-R disc, but I have no idea what type of data it is. No files can been seen in the explorer. The DVD in unreadable, both in my PC and with my Panasonic home TV harddisk recorder unit.

When I look at the DVD info box in Nero, this is what I see:

I also thought about creating this backup, but since I cannot see any files, there is no way to do this I guess, except maybe a sector per sector copy, but I know of no program that can so this for DVD's. This pretty much will be a one shot chance only I guess...

Is it using some sort of packet writing software? You used to have to install software to handle those types of discs.

I have absolutely no idea which file format this echograph machine in the hospital uses, sorry. (but normally a CD they write should be playable on any household DVD player)

Well, just for interest, it couldn't hurt to try it on a Linux system -- might get lucky (again wink )

Cheers
