i got the idea of creating a kind of scrap heap / rescue service for the empeg

the basic idea is to collect broken/dead units and take parts from each player to get a 100% working player.

of course there will be som parts left which can be sold or given away for free (only pay postage) to those in need for spare parts

i could also repair units and do drive upgrades and so on...

BUT is it a good idea that can be of any use? other ideas are most welcome

Does anyone actually know of a "dead" player anywhere? Other than those that RobS has, and the one on the "trophy" ?

All of the dead ones that I've come across were fixable, and got fixed.

Cheers

In general Mark has provided this service on an unofficial basis. The problem is he's too good, and fixes all of them, even the ones that take far longer than their worth to fix.

I'm not sure how many organ donors are our there. I've got one, but it's already down a fascia, and I've been hoarding it as my personal parts collection. If I let mark see it, he'll fix it, and then I won't have a spare VFD and handle, which I'm sure to need the moment I don't have a spare one on hand.

I've got this one but as I said, I'm sure you could fix it. I forget what I paid, but I know it was less than VFD goes for.

Do you have the pieces from that broken handle you are trying to replace?

If so, you could mail them to me in a padded envelope, and I just might be able to fix that handle. smile
