I use the tuner on my empeg a fair bit at the moment. The journey I am doing three days a week really brings out the dark side of the auto frequency functionality.

When driving along the M40 and on the outskirts of Oxford listening to Radio 4 the tuner will regularly jump off of the perfectly good frequency I am listening to onto a random frequency not at all related to Radio 4. It does it whether or no AF is enabled.

I have all the common Radio 4 frequencies setup on presets 1-6 so I can quickly jump back to right one, but it would be so much easier if it would stay put.

I am running v2.01, I don't have any real desire to move to 3.0 and I have no idea whether it would fix this anyway. I have TA and AF disabled.

I have no real need for AF, TA or RDS. Is there a way using Hijack or something else that I can stop the player software getting the RDS data and therefore hopefully stop it retuning ?

Looking at the readme for 3 alpha 11 I can see:

"Tuner AF can be turned off properly now. (Hopefully. We haven't
been able to test it thoroughly.)

The following tuner settings can be tweaked in the config file, in
the "[radio]" section:
"search_level", defaults to ((60*65535)/100)
- min signal strength to stop on when seeking
"ta_switch_level", defaults to ((60*65535)/100)
- min signal strength to change to if there's a TA
"af_switch_level", defaults to ((50*65535)/100)
- min signal strength to consider retune for AF
"

Can anyone confirm that these changes really work ?

I believe there are also hijack features that allow you to do the same for the 2.0 firmware. If so, someone please confirm with details.

I see mention of AF blocking in the hijack release notes and talk about a menu option. But I have no such menu option showing in hijack.

Looking at the source, Mark appears to have removed the RDS/AF disable menu item.

I would be interested in disabling the RDS info as well. All I really get is garbage on the screen anyway. My "RDS" letters go on and off so everything ends up jumbled up anyway.
