hi all, two quick questions for which i hope there's two equally quick answers!

1), after waiting over 17hrs to upload 27gig via usb, will i have to endure a similar wait if i simply add another sorted folder to that, or will it be a lot quicker as it's simply adding it to the existing playlist / content?

2)
is there a way to print off a list of all the files i now have on the empeg? something like a main directory, sub directories, and sub sub directories within, just so i can leave it on the empeg in the house, having re-organised my whole music folder (well, most of it), much of it is now not where it used to be, or even in the same genre it used to be in, for eg, what might have been in disco house, is now in hard house as it was in the wrong catagory, euqally, something from 'chill' might have been moved to 'classical', or vice versa, etc.

ps, if i need to do it from windows, i use XP pro.

cheers,
Hugh

Use ethernet.

I used to use USB and was loading 120 GB drives. Ethernet was really easy to set up by following the default addresses in the FAQ.

Try it, you'll like it.

thanks Ross, It's something i mean to do, I have a recent buffalo wireless N router, so i'm sure it's not an issue to set up but, not being a techy and never having tried to network something before, it's something i'll need to have a play with, i thought i could simply connect to the empeg with a network cable from the back of the pc tower! don't think it's that simple is it?

Hi,

I would encourage you to buy an inexpensive 10/100 hub, configure your system for 10 Mbps, default addresses & configuration like the FAQ says and make sure it works first.

That's how I did it.

Yup.

Something like that. Be sure to follow the FAQ.
