My remote seems to be broken - the OK and Play keys don't work (I finally figured out why I couldn't get alphanumeric searches to work anymore... it was really annoying me). Where can I get a new remote, or is this a common problem and is it conceivable that I might be able to fix it somehow? Not only do I want to be able to do alphanumeric searches in the car, but when using the empeg in my stereo system, I control all the functions by remote (whereas I usually use the faceplate buttons in the car), and I didn't have my main remote learn the OK code before the key broke on the empeg's remote - so I can't do much besides go forwards and backwards through tracks.

thanks!

I was just going to answer that you can simply buy the remote from any Kenwood dealer (model is KCA-R6A), but then went to check to their USA site. The KCA-R6As imaged there don't have * key! I am puzzled...

P.S. (OT): BTW, compare Kenwood USA Consumer Electronics site to that of Kenwood UK Electronics. The former is an example of efficient design, the later of waste of bandwith...

An empeg-branded one would be great (esp. with stun/kill...) - but can I buy one anywhere? The store's offline... and Rio's store doesn't have any accessories yet...

There is no empeg branded one that I know of-it says Rio on it. In another thread, Tim commented on when the remotes might be available, I cant remember what the dates were though.

There are no empeg/Rio remotes available for purchase. It would be nice though.

You can also buy the kenwood remote (identical as far as I could see to the proposed empeg remote) at Crutchfield's website. If that isn't the correct remote (might be a different model with different IR codes), someone correct me.

I'm probably gonna buy some neons from them for my pimpin' minivan. Hells yeah.

I'm also probably going to order the Sony RM-X4S steering wheel remote from them soon so I can install it and have it ready for when I take my car in for sound system repairs.

Actually, there were a couple of empeg-branded prototype remotes made. But the logo was changed to Rio before they went into production.

Can anyone say "rare collector's item"?

I have an extra remote, if you'd like it. When diagnosing my IR problem, empeg shipped me another remote thinking that was the problem, when in actuality it wasn't.

Let me know if you want it and I'll try to dig it up. (It's somewhere on my desk... I hope.. hehe)
