Hi I'm selling an MK2 rio empeg. It's in great physical condition. It had a whimpy hard drive so I put in a toshiba 80gig and I tried putting the software on but I don't think I know how to do it right cause it says hard drive failure.. either it needs a new hard drive or someone needs to put the software on correctly.

Yes, faithmassive sold it to me on February 11. I sent a payment for postage on February 18th.
I got a message from him on the 19th saying he was posting it.

Since then I've had no communication with him, nor have I received the unit.

Looks like Florida to Australia (yay!). A month is about the outside it should take, but much longer and I would start to get concerned.

Someone else sent me a tuner module the day before, from TX, and it arrived after six days.
This transaction is now 28 days old, and I've had no reply from
faithmassive. Maybe he was hit by a bus?

He might have somehow managed to send it by surface mail (which apparently isn't supposed to be possible from the USA now), so it could take 6 weeks.

But even just USPS to me here in Canada can take four weeks. Much slower than from anywhere else on the planet, really.

you may want to review your payment method and check to see what, if any, limits there are on reporting a fraudulent transaction.

Reporting it and then having the item turned up 'delayed' is better than waiting too long and missing the window to notify.

This wouldn't be needed if you could establish contact with the seller but since he's not returning emails/calls for some (possibly harmless) reason then better safe than sorry.

Just out of curiosity, I had a look at faithmassive's previous posts, in February 05 a seller had a great deal of trouble contacting him, but it all seems to have turned out OK, so maybe, fingers crossed, it will this time.

Strange thing about forums. With some you get ongoing conversations with participants writing replies during pit-stops early in the morning. With other forums, people look in almost at random.

I don't know if it's the actual bulletin board format, or the subject matter, or the sociology of the subscribers, or all of the above.

Or it could just be, I'm housebound after an accident and have nothing better to do!

It's just the sellers who seem to reply randomly. Maybe it's hard to part with a Rio, so folk advertise then don't come back to check the replies.

I did a whois on his mail server and it pointed to the family business.

A friend in the States who has done some Private Eye training rang the directors who apologised for the trouble, etc etc, and sent to unit to my friend, who is passing it on.

No detail on why he couldn't send it himself.
