Hi,

bought a tiny, more fuel efficient car. Therefore I am looking for an original dock so I could switch and use my beloved empeg Mark2 in both cars.

Anyone has a spare dock?

Cheers

We call those things "sleds" here.

I have a spare sled, used but the wiring harness is complete, including a rare and valuable Sony XA-39 audio switch.

I will let it go for $50 plus $4.80 priority mail shipping (assuming you are in the US).

Dear tanstaafl, I am interested in your sled.
Sending you a PM!

I appologize for the delayed answer, I wrongly assumed that I will get a email notification once somebady replies to my thread...

Cheers KeN

PS: This weekend I swapped the old broken HD (Headcrash) with a brandnew SSD HD. Loaded the newest hijack and my fav. songs. - Runs like a charm, and the change between songs is even faster. Could be the drive or the new disk builder I used to initialize the hd, anyway best mp3 player ever!

Just curious-
How are you adapting the SSD (I'm assuming SATA?) to IDE?

No problem about the delay, the sled is just sitting in a box.

I have sent you a pm with shipping information.

re: Just curious

-> No, I bought a 32GB IDE SSD from TRANSCEND. They have a 32GB and 64GB Version.
-> There are very cheap IDE to SD Adapters. Ofcourse those solutions are not meant to be used as Notebook Harddisks. But I played with the idea of using two 16GB SD Cards and two of those adapters (I think about $4 each on ebay) in my empeg car. Such solution works fairly well on my old Archos MP3 Player (Which killed about one HD/Year, and is now broken itself..)

In short I dropped the idea, since I was not sure how well those apapters would cope with IDE standards. And the empeg might be a little more demanding than a simple MP3 player which only accesses them as simple fat32 storages. And in the end I could end up with 2SD Cards I currently don't have any use to.
-Sorry, kinda got carried away...

Cheers

Thanks for the reply.

Some people on here have used CF cards to create a home-made SSD. I hadn't seen an IDE (PATA) SSD on the market.

re: I hadn't seen an IDE (PATA) SSD on the market.
I think they are around since 2007 or so. However reviews weren't that good and prices way too high. Well, still are too high if you go for a quality Laptop SSD solution.

I bought mine from memoryc.com (99Pounds / about $170 + shipping)

PS:
My empeg just sits below a double din Pioneer AVIC-HD1BT unit (Hehe, the only thing of real financial value in my old Subaru I guess). Anyway it gets a little hot there, and my recent hd crash might be related to this. (It's not the first time). So I figured the extra cost for a SSD drive might also be cheaper in the long run and the upper unit could also benefit from the lesser heat coming up.

That's not meant to be as a recomendation of their shop! There are many suppliers worldwide.
