Wow, I finally ran out of space on my 110 gig empeg. Considering I only have ~75 gig of MP3s, this is surprising. Oh wait, I'm hoarding podcasts which I'll probably never listen to....

Is there a way in emplode to show the file size of individual playlists (and of parent playlists which contain children)? This will help me target which hoards of podcasts should be cut first.

emplode burned me with its refusal to sync when it has "negative free space." I delete almost as many podcasts as I upload, but emplode doesn't count the deleted files toward the free space. Is there a way to change that behavior? Yes, I always Shift-Delete to fully remove the tracks from the player.

Or, I could just buy a big huge hard drive....

No, it's "just not" deleting files when I tell it to. An advanced search for "marked" reveals 1000+ podcasts. I mark a podcast after listening to it so I know to delete it.

Is that process of marking somehow keeping the files on the player?? Isn't there some way to see "unattached" files? Can I check on the files I "deleted" that weren't marked?

Wow, this is crazy. I thought Shift-Delete killed files dead.

And for so long I was wondering: How is it that I could return to a Bookmark of a file that I'd deleted. "Oh," I thought, "maybe the Bookmark is keeping the file on the player and it'll be deleted when I reuse that Bookmark slot somewhere else."

This discovery just deleted 13 months of podcasts, 1023 files taking up 10 gig. That's a lot of podcasts. No wonder I don't have time to listen to music anymore.

It's possible that shift delete was doing the opposite of what you think it was doing.

To find files that aren't in playlists, do an advanced search for refs=0 .

Phew, that found another 1800 files consuming another 16 gig.

There, 26 gig free. That's much more like it!

Thanks!
