Two days ago, all the sound started coming out of the left speakers in my car. At double the volume. I assumed it was something wrong with the radio station I was listening to. It wasn't. Last night the same thing happened with mp3's directly on the player.

If I reseat the empeg, everything sounds correct for 20-30 seconds, just long enough to get the volume correct before it flips back, overdriving the amp and sounding horrible.

My question is is this likely an empeg problem or an amp problem?

It could be either a problem with the 'peg or the amp. It could also be a wiring problem, including the classic loose wires in the docking connector problem.

First, check to see if you have the same problem with the 'peg plugged in indoors, using RCA cables to the home outputs. If there's no problem that way, it's unlikely to be internal to the 'peg, and it's time to start looking for wiring problems or amp problems.

Will do. I just have to find a wall wart strong enough to do it.
