I lost my null modem cables some years ago, so I've never played with Alpha 3 before...

I've finally got round to buying another cable and installed Alpha 3 on my main player. I have a few questions:

Is there a reason why Alpha 3 would be louder than V2 ? The tuner in particular seems to be a lot louder and even on the MP3 side I have the volume turned down a lot lower than with V2. It is actually a benefit for me, as I've been meaning to turn up the gain on my amp for ages But I didn't expect any change in this area.

Does the tuner scan actually work ? I see the buttons now work to kick off the scan, but it just scans through the whole frequency band without ever stopping at any stations.

What does auto gain control do ? Is it similar/the same as Auto Vol Adjust in Hijack ?
