There have been quite a few times recently that I have wanted to control my central heating system while away from the house, but options here in the UK seem to be lacking the coolness of some thing like Nest.

The only option I can find that looks anything like what I'd like is from British Gas, and I have my doubts...

http://www.britishgas.co.uk/products-and-services/remote-heating-control.html

All my googling only returns flimsy eBay listings to devices that I wouldn't really want wired into my home. Anyone away of a workable solution, or if Nest are coming to the UK soon ???

Cheers

Yea, I saw that on Google, not sure I like it as a solution. Seems expensive for something that looks so cheap.

Turns out I know someone who is a British Gas engineer.

Gave him a call, and he came round and installed it for £150 today. He explained that actually it's a pretty good product and the switch gear is probably an upgrade of what I currently use, certainly the thermostat.

First impressions are good, works really well. I can see this is something that they will add to in time.

Ghetto in the extreme, but you have to admire the functionality wink
