I need a "project desk" to go next to my existing Ikea Galant desk. But Ikea don't do Galant desks any more. I don't suppose anyone still here knows whether their other desk ranges are vaguely compatible with and/or blend in with the Galant desks?

Yeah, but it'd be a bonus if the size/height/edges matched.

I found another Galant desk on Gumtree yesterday; trying to decide whether to go an pick it up.

I didn't get around to picking it up before the break.

However, we were in Ikea today, and I discovered that they've got this thing called "Circular Hub" where they buy back (and resell) second-hand, ex-display, etc., Ikea furniture.

They had exactly the same desk I'd seen on Gumtree, so we grabbed it. It was a little bit more expensive, but it saved the effort of driving into (and parking in) Hammersmith.

So, anyway, once the garden's dried up a bit after the last few days' rain, that'll come out of the car and into the office.

Have you installed stone or pavers between the house and the new office yet?

They're supposed to be arriving today, apparently.

They arrived a couple of hours after this. They're reclaimed tyre rubber. They look nice, and they're nicely grippy.

Unlike the ones that RobS has, they don't have any "teeth" on the bottom -- apparently they're supposed to sort of bed themselves in over time.

In the downpour today, I discovered that this is not exactly true -- as I surfed a couple of feet across the lawn on an errant slab.

I'll look into cutting out some turf and bedding them down properly on either sand or gravel.

Water does get underneath those rubber tiles, we use them on flat roofs but not an issue as we're joining up loads together but single tiles will definitely be an issue.
