Hello all, it's been 9yrs and a lot of changes since my last confession! Very pleased to see the board is still here!!!
So, long story short.. I reently cleared out a my 600ft2 storage space and was very pleased to come across my old Technics hi-fi stack (the SL1210 Mk1 deck is missing but that's another issue
), I was also delighted to re-discover my collection of empegs, comprising four MK2's with various spares I managed to gather over a few year peoriod.
Once the Technics stack was set up and working, I grabbed my box of empegs and set about checking out what was on them..
Unit 1, perfect, exactly as it was when removed from the old 3.0 Maxima, not a massive drive, maybe 30gb, but all working and a massive nostalgia hit as it was my first and had the best selection of music on!
Unit 2, wakes up, says "
Source auxillary" then goes to sleep, not to be awakened.
This unit was discussed at length in the past, iirc it was installed on an aux input into my old bluray surround system at home. I need to do a better search to bring it up. The fault occured after the kids got the remote and pressed enough buttons to put the player into this mode, no amount of tinkering fixed it. With this player is a new chip which I believe I was sent in order to try and fix the issue, no return address with the chip so I can't recall who sent it.
Unit 3 & 4 both fail to spin up properly and show the error "
no hard drive found", this is a shame as one of those players has an entire library on it, 150gig if i recall.
So, to my question,
Is there anybody in the UK to whom I can send these players to be fixed, and possibly upgrade them to DDS? I think at least two ar hijacked,
I 'could' go through the bother of fixing them myself but, work circs have changed and I don't really have the time or space to get into them properly, I also need to set up the network (and fibre), and load all the software onto the new PC's at the new workshop before I can think about doing much with them.. would be easier for someone more knowledgable with the software etc all ready to go... I fear that if they go back to my new storage they'll not see the light of day for another 10years!
I have considered selling them but guess they'd fetch a better price if working, Is there even much of a market for them these days?
TIA,
Hugh
