I am using emplode 2.0
I'm unable to get the connection to the player using Ethernet. I have tried using Crossover cable, straight through cable. I am not sure about the settings. I think I just choose Network. The address in the box below that is 255.255.255.255. I am not sure if I need to check that box also or if I need change the 255.255.255.255 to something else.

Any help? I am using an old laptop using Win 7 the player has HiJack on it.

Thanks!

You'll need to connect the player to a network hub/switch -- there are ways to get it working connected directly to a PC, but it's a bit more complicated.

Assuming the player's configured for DHCP, and you've got a DHCP server (you probably do -- your router should do it), it should just work at that point.

If the player's not configured for DHCP, you'll need to connect over serial or USB to change the configuration.

If I plug the player into a switch, would I need to do it with a crossover cable or a straight through cable?
Also, what are the settings on the connection screen of Emplode if I try to connect through a switch? I am trying to remember/figure all this out from many years ago, and I never was very good at it even then, so I thank you for the help!!

Any modern switch from the past decade will work fine using either kind of cable: regular or "crossover". This is called "auto MDX".

I was going to re-install Emplode, but I cannot find any except for an older version of it like 1.x upgrade. Is there a more current version on line somewhere? I searched the FAQ's and cannot find it, and the download section is not available anymore.
Thanks

There are two "current" versions of emplode:

car-emplode-v2.00.zip for use with the v2 firmware, and..
car-emplode-v2.10-trunk.zip for use with v3alpha.

Try a search for those; they're probably here somewhere.

Nevermind. You can get either version of emplode from here for a limited time: https://rtr.ca/t/
