I don't remember what I paid for my last one, but $129 ?

Yep, and the margin is average. Previously empeg made a big loss on this part. if you search you'll be able to find the posts on the subject.

Heh, if you can personally source the metalwork, the connectors, the wires, and the crimps for less than that, I would be surprised.

That connector alone is a pretty rare and expensive little part.

If i would get the connector somehow i could easily find somebody in Estonia to do the metalwork for 1000 EEK or so (1US$ = 18 EEK). Maybe much cheaper when this would be made in volume. You guys at empeg should think about move-ing some of the production to Estonia

If that wasn't a typo, the price you came up with is about $55 - which isn't at all competitive with the price we pay in the UK I'm afraid.

The assembled wiring loom - however - costs a great deal more than the metalwork.

No that wasn't a typo. Simply labour is much cheaper here. Average monthly salary here is about 5000 EEK. Mine is twice as much for part time job, but still a lot less than is considered normal in UK or US, thats why i can't afford upgradeing to MK2 in near future :(

You misunderstand. He's saying they pay LESS than that for the metalwork. The wiring loom is where all the money goes.
