I was playing the unit and all of a sudden it locked up. The display freezes for a while, no buttons have any effect. After a while the player restarts and then freezes again as soon as it's running. The cycle continues forever.

Power off causes the player to reboot and start the cycle all over again.

I re-uploaded 1.03 and ended up with the same problem after the successful completion of the upload.

Serial port reports the following:

And it repeats forever. (there is a DHCP server on the network by the way). I've emailed support but it's the weekend. I don't want to do without her that long.

Any thoughts from the boards wisdom?

Install the developer image, then follow the recovery procedures documented in this thread.

This may need to become a FAQ item, as it seems to be happening more and more...

Mine was doing somthing similar and it was a bad spot in the mp3.
I got by it pressing the fast forward key repeatadly just as it was getting ready to start playing again.

That did it for me, I was able to get past the bad spot, skip to a different song & make a note of it so I could remove & fix it later.

That did it! Thanks Drakino!

I just wish I knew what song was playing so I could forward it to the folks at empeg to dissect.
