Lost my tuner....?

Hi all,
also something that is not in the current bug list: my tuner is not being recognized anymore. When trying to change sources, I always only get Aux or Player as choices, but not my tuner.
I first thought that this was due to the fact that I'd have to activate the tuner support somehow in Emplode, but now I don't find an option for that.
My tuner is set to ID 0, it was working before. I didn't try a downgrade yet, will do so in a minute.

You didn't, by any chance, happen to install a CAR1 upgrade file onto your Mark2 player, did you? ___________

I get some odd tuner behaviour allso (I have MK1).
1. I can't hear any sound on tuner mode. The RDS data comes thru but tuner shows zero coverage. Search with AM-/FM+ does'nt find any stations either.
2. Cant't change tuner data banks, pressing tuner button only toggles between tuner info and visual mode.
3. Info modes don't make sence. Swiching info mode on tuner cycles between Radio, Line, Transient and Off. Thats nice but in Line and Transient it shows details of the last empeg track. I would be more useful if it was showing station name and scrolling RDS data on that line.
Any clues? Veiko

In theory, you can't do this anymore, it won't let you.
Not had any other reports of tuners that were fine on 1.03 not working on 2.0 - try loading 1.03 again and see if it starts working.

In My case (MK1) it was fine before. I'm sure it will work again if i will install 1.03 back on. I don't want to lose 2.0 fetures so i think i just can live without a radio until 2.0 will get fixed.
Concerning visuals in radio mode. You sayd in another thread that mk 1 does not have enough ram for visuals in radio mode. Actually i really like the idea haveing visuals in aux and radio mode, even if they are not exactly following the rythm of music. The tuner info mode does't look pretty. So please let mk1 owners have the choice to use visuals too, when you are repairing the software. You can just put a warning in release notes that visuals may not respond correctly due to lack of ram.

No, the mk1 doesn't have sound input hardware so it simply *can't* do visuals on aux/radio, sorry. This is a mk2 feature only.
Any other mk1 owners lost their tuner with 2.0?

But maybe its possible to use static visuals and some other ones just moveing slowly at fixed programme. For example panning image visual that just slowly pannes at fixed program. That would help to add some life on the display while listening radio. The radio info screen just gets boring. Veiko

Ken99Si, who rarely posts on the bbs, IMed me last night and we chatted about 2.0. He also said he'd lost the tuner on the upgrade. I mentioned he should post about it but i'm not sure he will... soo... chalk one more up for losing the tuner i guess.

I would second that idea. There are aslo some visuals that don't seem to have any realation to the music, such as "Come to Daddy" and "Snakes"
"Shape Scope" and "Sounds Samosa" also move quite nicely with the sound paused (in mp3 mode), as does "Funnel Web" (albeit a little slowly). "InfoTex" would also be very good! as would any of the deforming InfoTex visuals such as "Twist". You *could* even try a clock visual on a Mk1 if it was receiving a RDS time signal.
"Hoola Hoops" *can* be interesting for a little while in pause mode. "Borg Beat"? "Lavatory FLoor"? (silly American sensibilities!! I liked "Toilet Floor" much better as a name! ;-) ) "Caledonian" moves, but would be better with something like random direction changes.
"Casualty" is a little dead though
So you see Hugo, there are still quite a few visuals that would work quite well on a Mk1 in tuner or aux mode. How about giving it a try? (list 6284, Mk1 S/N 00299 4GB blue [for sale]. Mk2 S/N 080000094 26GB blue)

Hugo,
Yes. I have a MK1 serial #00028. Tuner worked fine in 1.03, I loaded 2.o beta 3 yesterday and now when I switch to tuner I get no sound. The signal strength appears to be working (as if the radio is working but no sound). I have not yet loaded 1.03 back on to see if it still works. Unfortunately RDS is not broadcast in my area so I cannot confirm if the unit receives RDS info.

On my Mk1 with v2.00b3, the tuner always starts muted.
Did you try pressing the play/pause button on the remote, or the top button on the front panel?

This is what I experience:
1) the tuner can't be selected with the "source" button, but it's there when I press "tuner".
2) when I first select the tuner, I have to press the top "play/unpause" button for audio
3) my powered antenna seems to be behaving strangely. This may be the antenna's fault...
When is it supposed to be up?

My tuner is now back and fully functional again after a downgrade and then re-upgrade. I don't know why this happened - eventually, because I was using the tuner before the upgrade and didn't have the player as active source?
Anyway, for anybody else having this problem: downgrade, use player, re-upgrade. Fixed it for me.

Hey - the pause button did the trick. Thanks!
It's still a little silly to have to unmute when switching to the radio, but at least it works. :)
Also, is it just my imagination, or is the radio reception better with 2.03?

I believe it's a known bug
