Paul, thanks for the update. That "Print Thread" feature is cool! The new control panel is a nice touch, too.
Did this upgrade cost you anything? Did you have to renew your license for another year of upgrades?

Yes I had to pay for a years worth of upgrades but the
cost wasn't too bad - please send to money now. Just
beer if we ever meet up.

Great, Paul! Lots of nice new features (I especially like print and reminders). But, why do they change icons with vitually every release?

Thanks!

The BBS was upgraded while I was composing an article:

http://empeg.comms.net/php/showthreaded.php?Cat=&Board=install&Number=42522&page=0&view=collapsed&sb=5&o=7&fpart=

and none of my markup was interpreted correctly. Did you turn off markup and HTML in posts, and if so, was it accidental?

Also, what happened to "User List"? I am sure it's here somewhere but I can't find it.

I canned it as it causes a fair hit everytime you use it.

It shouldn't have changed - it may just have been that you
was unluck with the code changing.

It seems to be a HELL of a lot quicker than the old version......

Does it hopefully fix the cookie problem relating to read posts?

The speed up might just be due to a restart - and as with the cookie problem hopefully its fixed - but time will tell.

No; that problem is still as bad as ever.

The "Show Users Pictures in Profile" setting appears to be broken. I've got it set to "Yes", but it never shows me the pictures.

Make sure your "Post Format" in your display prefs are set to Side... they won't show in Top format.

Oh no, how do we get a ranking of users by the number of posts now?

I'm sure if we ask, Paul might post that every month or so The standings don't change much.

I think the new look is pretty cool. the icons on the forum listing aren't that great. very "pixely". Oh well. I'll have to try some of the other features sometime.

Great job Paul!

Nah, I'm talking about showing them when looking at people's profiles, not while looking at posts. Or do I have to toggle that setting anyway?

Err, Where's the switch to turn off the text with the buttons?

Ah, no... you shouldn't have to toggle that to see them... weird. I can see 'em fine.

I can see the buttons and the text. I'd like to only thee the buttons. It seems sorta pointless, and tautological, to have a graphic depicting an action and the text telling you the same thing.

I like the text next to the buttons myself. I agree that for a frequent user it's kind of pointless. But the first time I came to this BBS, I remember finding myself confused by those buttons. Often I would have to click on them just to figure out what they did.

Sure, I acknowledge that. I'm an adict, not as much as tony though , and I know what all the symbols are.
Paul emailed me and said that there doesn't seem to be a switch for it in this revision.
