Doh. It seems to be "empegged" out. "we are currently experiencing high volume..." What exactly was this?

Hi,

An old copy of the www.empeg.com homepage.

Just hit refresh a couple of times, that did it for me (got the "Higher Than Expected" message too).

Hey,

I just went to the"nowin" page in that archive, and it says (among other things):
In reply to:

We will also be publishing the specs of the transfer format for the unit, allowing other programmers to write downloaders for their favourite OS.

Now that was a promise I always seemed to remember, but I couldn't find it in later versions of the empeg pages. Now I really wonder where those "published" specs are. Don't tell me to look at the emptool source, those are really helpful, but those aren't specs.
So how about publishing something that resembles specs some more, empeg buys?

cu,
sven

(just trying to distract from the fact he didn't get around to finishing the nav'em program skeleton or at least the graphics/sound/file/serial API specs last week)

The emptool sources are the spec. What do you think we work from ?

Quite. If there were published specs, everyone would soon know how poorly emptool and Emplode implement them. Heck, if there were internal specs, we'd soon know how poorly emptool and Emplode implement them. Hmm, maybe that's not such a bad idea...

Oh my god, I always dreamed of working for empeg , and now you destroyed that. I really thought you were a real (though small) company, that consists of professionals.
No, honestly, I somehow expected this answer, but I would really have liked to get a more satisfying one. Like a post containing a flow/state chart of the protocol or something.

cu,
sven

PS: I know the difference between US and Canada is the (lack of) ability to detect irony on one of the sides. How is GB doing in this regard?

Christ, no one really works with flowcharts anymore.

Mostly no, but in the case of a comm protocol a state transition diagram or something equivalent for engines on both sides comes handy...

Yeah, right. We've got one of those. I'd document the protocol properly, but I'm too busy. With a bit of luck, the part of emplode that talks protocol will be opened up, making it simpler for everyone else.
