hi folks
have my empeg tuner working, listening to stations is ok, also the RDS information is displayed, but it seems that the tuner does not autotuning.
here in the mountains autotioning is THE RDS feauture, otherwise i have to manual tune every 20km or less.

This (AF retuning), and TA retuning, are top of my wishlist. The Empeg boys have promised them for version 2.x (x!=0), and I for one intend to hold them to that promise.

I think that's a little unfair; v2 took a while to come out, but we didn't give dates until very near to the release. We try not to promise something unless we're pretty damn sure about it.
AF will happen, some of the base code is already there. We've just been busy. I want AF too :)

Does that go for TA as well, Hugo? I assume the code for the two is mostly common...
Although I now realise how rarely is the TA absolutely essential, having done without it for a couple of months. The matrix signs on the motorways are improving, which helps. Of course I could find the need becomes greater with the weekends-in-Scotland season starting.

Dunno what I'm doing asking questions as I'm about to disappear for four weeks (mlord stylee)... I hope I remember to check back this far when I return.
Have a happy Christmas, all those who have holidays, and have a good midwinter/midsummer everyone else.
See you next year.

Care to make a list? I can think of ONE. VR, which still may happen (we can wish).
Past that, I'm drawing a blank. Consider that you are receiving updated software for a product that is EOLed, at no additional cost.
I can think of many other companies that have fallen to "it will be fixed/implemented/better in the near future." and have not delievered. Empeg (not S3/SonicBlue/whatever) is not one of them.

Hugo and the guys are doing their best to implement the features we want to see in the car player.
Let's be honest, development in this area is hardly likely to be a priority as far as SB is concerned, so we are fortunate that the guys in Cambridge are still committed to the Empeg/RioCar user base.
Also, when you see the Digital Audio Centre, you will realise why the team has not had much time to work on the car player software.
Be patient, and I'm certain that the features you (and pretty much everyone else) wants will get developed.
Andy.

Sorry got it disagree if anything they sneak in features that were never annouced like ability to dump contents of a window to a cvs fle in emplode.
If you know of a company that has the same back up for a product alive or dead i will be very impressed
Don't forget theres probably more ferraris coming out the factoy then there are empegs it has got a tiny user base in comparrison to some one like alpine
I might be wrong but i think this is tuner version number 3 as the first lot were not good enough

Hugo writes: AF will happen, some of the base code is already there. We've just been busy. I want AF too :)
Isn't this great? Even though the product is EOL'ed, the developers will still be dorking with it to satisfy their own itches, and we'll all benefit from that.
Question for anybody in the U.S. with a fancier RDS radio tuner: do any U.S. stations actually use all these fancy features that the Europeans all take for granted? I was in Germany for a week, and my rental car never made you deal with frequencies and pre-sets. It just showed you buttons with the call-names of all the stations that it could find. Wouldn't that be nice to have here?

No, they do not. This is in the FAQ.

Okay, U.S. stations are lame, but they now have to potentially compete with XM Radio. Maybe XM Radio could be the kick in the ass that they need to add the RDS features.

Yeah, I'd rather have a lot of kickass RDS features on ordinary radio than to pay for a subscription satellite service with an external antenna. I think that XM radio is a solution looking for a problem, and I don't anticipate it will take off. But we'll see.

Not only that, but the radio in my Porsche supports the advanced RDS features like Traffic Announce - and I discovered much to my chagrin that the stations in the US sometimes ABUSE the RDS-TA signal to 'grab' people who push the TA buttons on their RDS radios. I found several stations that used RDS were constantly sending the TA signal.
