Under display server 1.1 I could get XMMS to stream the audio coming from the empeg (in the shoutcast-style play mode)

It seems like XMMS doesn't like Display Server 2.0.

From Mozilla I click on the loudspeaker icon, mozilla asks me if it should save or oopen the data, I choose open and point to XMMS and nothing.

Anybody succesful in configuring XMMS to work with this?

Thanks,
-D

I would think you might have to reset your file associations, that is my guess.

But what is the file that Mozilla wants to save? I know that xmms has a really good faq on their site for setting up shoutcast/icecast and http streaming, here is an excerpt from that documentation:

To make Netscape use XMMS on http://www.shoutcast.com you just have to load up
Netscape and choose view/preferences/Navigator/applications add a new handler
set mimetype: audio/x-scpls
set application: xmms %s
hit the OK button and off you go!

And for http://www.mp3.com

Set mimetype: audio/x-mpegurl
Set suffix: m3u
Set application: xmms %s

Available here

Now I dont recall what Displayserver uses, but I suspect it is m3u, so these settings should help.

Yeah, I have all that stuff set up, although Mozilla doesn't seem to like the %s but opens xmms fine with the url passed to it, maybe it does it by default.

Anyway the file info once xmms is opened is:

http://empeg/ds-bin/getfid?output=m3u&fid=673

Shoutcast streaming workd fine, mp3.com has some problems (xmms doesn't launch).

I'll carry on investigating.

Thanks,,
