The drive column in emplode lists all items as on drive 0 ... Granted I added that second drive myself, but there's plenty of files on that second drive .. nothing comes up when I do the search of Drive=1 or Drive="1"

It was like this in 2.0b3. I thought I was doing something wrong. Should have reported it I suppose.

I think Tony mentions this in the FAQ. The Drive property isn't used yet, so it will always read 0.

Yes, it's in the FAQ, and if I recall correctly, it's in the release notes for 2.0b3 as well.
