Just experimenting with my recently purchased Rio car and already running out of room on the player. So in the meantime whilst I contemplate getting another hard drive for the rio, I wanted to encode some albums (that I seldom listen to) into the WMA format using Audiograbber (I've tried it on 160kb/s version 2 and 8). However trying to drag the resultant .wma file onto emplode, it reports that it's not a valid media file.

I doesn't support WMA yet. It almost certainly will by the final realease of 2.0. There's apparently some licensing issues they're working out.

Thanks, that would explain it. Strange that both the release notes and the front screen of emplode say otherwise. Oh well.

Hmmm. The only mention of WMA I see in the release notes is in beta3 and says ``WMA support is not included due to licensing issues. This functionality will be added when the problem is resolved.'' I'm sure that it's included in emplode because it was easier to just go ahead and desgin the screen properly to begin with rather than redesign it later.

Besides, ``BY DEFINITION, BETA SOFTWARE MAY NOT PERFORM AS ADVERTISED.''

I do not remember b3 but in b7, Emplode does have the WMA logo on it....which leads me to believe it should support WMA now...I know it is beta but usually the logos are not put in till it actually does it....

``BY DEFINITION, BETA SOFTWARE MAY NOT PERFORM AS ADVERTISED.''

Does that mean that 1.03 does support WMA?

No, 1.03 and lower only support MP3. WMA support is supposed to be in version 2.00. I would expect it to be in 2.00 Final or a future beta of 2.00.

WMA was never in 1.0 - it wasn't supported by the architecture.

We have had the code in 2.0 for many months, and are only holding back shipping due to a contractual issue with the vendor (you all know who that is). It should all be sorted out before the end of January, probably sooner.

Thanks Rob for the clarification. Which version of WMA will be supported?

I think it's 7 and 8. We don't support DRM encoded files.
