Just got a 20 gig in today ... arrived in a different type of box than the one I got a few months ago. The empeg feels different and looks a little different.

The display is brighter it seems. Also the handle feels much more sturdy. It has a very defined full out/in feel to the spring in it. Odd, but I like it. Looks good.

Hey now that it's EOL, can't we just name this the Official Empeg BBS??

Originally we asked Paul to use the word Unofficial for two main reasons:

1. It lends credibility that the views posted here are uncensored and quite independent to the company that manufactures the product.

2. It allows our staff to post and have (most) people realise that they do so in an unofficial capacity.

I guess at least (2) still applies.

I agree, I think it should remain "unofficial". Still, I'd like to change the graphics of the title, and use an "original" Empeg logo in it, just because I think it looks better. Could we?

Er, perhaps we should have different versions for different 'skins' (style sheets)? For example, I am using 'empeg-big letters', so orange on black text would suit me best. I suppose Taym uses one of blue and black styles...

Yes, I was thinking about that. It very much depends on what color ser you chose for the bbs. I am using blue on black.

Unfortunatly there is no easy way to do this.

Drop me an e-mail if you want it, but I've got a nice CGI that figures out what stylesheet the user is using, and can make decisions based upon that. (e.g., you could have IMG SRC="foo.cgi", and let the cgi spit out the appropriate image).

If you want to do that anyway.

I had to do that to get the stylesheet selections to work with all the other sections of my W3T site, but the same theory applies for using it for other purposes...

Waiting to hear from PaulH if, with your help, we can use different logos for different BBS styles, are there any other 'logo maker' that would submit its own ideas? I'm preparing the poll so please post your creations!

How 'bout something like this (attached)?
Of course not so blown out, and maybe another font. (The light in my office right now is not very conducive to digital photog).
If I clean up the edges, it could be made stylesheet independent. i.e. will work on pretty much any color background.
Ill see if I can get a better shot of the VFD in the AM.

Credit to the empeg guys for the shot of the empeg housing.
I pilfered it off their site, and cut and pasted the display from my own empeg.

I'm a former Excite@home customer, now an AT&T Broadband customer, and I AM VERY DISGRUNTLED!.
The serial connectors on our Empeg's probably have more bandwidth than I have now.
Its literally taken me 15 minutes to make these 2 posts.
Anyway, forget trying to attach it.
