Pardon my newbie question.. but I just got my player and I scoured through the faq and i didn't see my question that I have addressed in there:

Is there any way to fast foward in 1 (or greater?) minute intervals?? When I hold down the fast foward button it seems like it only skips in 1 - 2 second intervals... any help would be appreciated..

Hold FF/REW, the speed increases dramatically.

Look at that... not even a dozen posts yet and the guy that designed your beautiful RioCar or empeg answered your question personally!

Hrm.. if i hold down the buttons on the unit itself (instead of using the remote) to fast foward it goes a little faster. But it still takes a good 2 seconds go skip through one minute. Is this normal for everyone else?? I have extremely long DJ mixes that I have on my empeg and its kind of frustrating to have to hold down the fast foward button for a minute or so just to skip to a certain point in a mix... any help would be appreciated!

If you're using 2.0b7 then switch to the Seek info mode and use the knob as a jog dial. That's about as good as it gets right now.

Keep in mind there are known bugs with the player restarting when switching to seek mode.

I am reasonably certain that this is the answer to your question.

Thanks for all the help guys.. i still haven't resolved my problem (I uploaded a couple non-VBR encoded mp3s and it still takes quite a bit to fast foward).

I'll take yn0t's advice and try upgrading and see if I can seek faster.. if worse comes to worse I'll just split my larger mp3s up into smaller ones.. thanks again to everyone that responded!
