Question for anyone in the know... I ordered an empeg (Rio) for my wife, after the price drop. I didn't order a tuner with it, as I wasn't sure it would actually ship. Now they are not on the web site to order.

I was under the impression that there were more tuners than empegs. Are they hiding somewhere, or were they snapped up by ebay speculators?

3 of the guys in my office ordered empegs after the drop too. I know they are going to want tuners as well.

Thanks in advance,
-Trevor

Thanks for the quick response. I know of at least 4 more that would be sold in my office alone. I'll have them go vote in the other thread. I guess I was mistaken about the "more tuners made than empegs"...

I think alot of them were sold to people planning on just reselling them on ebay and they may or may not have bought a empeg to go with it

it would be interesting to know the empeg to tuner ratio

I received a tuner when I placed my order on Jan. 3. I was surprised it shipped. They also gave me a 12GB instead of a 10GB also ordered on the 3rd. I'm not complaining I tried the tuner and it doesn't really work that good. I also tried to adjust the sensitivity but it did not work either. I live in LA so I know the signals are strong. I guess I might have to play with it a bit.

thats probably about the same day my roommate ordered a tuner and it just came today

was the 12 gig in a white or brown box ?

there was a problem with the extension cable being wired wrong on some of them did you try it without the extension ?

I just tried mine today in the house using a piece of wire stuffed the in hole for the antanna and it worked pretty good

Check the FAQ Entry on this subject.

Yeah, I saw that FAQ. I have it connectd w/o the extension cable. It works ok but the signals are not very strong. About 3-4 bars of strength even for the really strong stations. No big deal. About the 12GB unit. It was in a brown box just like my 20GB unit. No difference.

And you saw the FAQ entry right after it, too?

I made sure Emplode was on United States and the player itself was a Rio Car instead of the Empeg. Thanks for the heads up. Now that I have the Rio, the tuner will not get used that much ne way. I have a question in the installation notes forum..could you take a look at it? Its about powering the unit down.

I didn't mean the entry about US/Europe. The entry I linked was the one about the power antenna amplifier. Are you supplying power to your antenna amplifier? Also, have you double-checked your antenna wire to make sure it's properly connected?

I was under the impression that there were more tuners than empegs.

I believe they made 3,000 Mark II empegs, and 1,000 tuners.

Not sure I understand what your talking about. Is it the blue wire from the radio module extension cable? I not using any power antenna if that matters.

I just opened the main box which was brown only to see a white Empeg box. I guess this one in an earler version because the instructions were different also. Anything else different about the white empeg box units? I read somewhere the codes for the serial numbers. It tells you when it was built I think? Does anyone know the sequence.

Tony wasn't refering to a power antenna (i.e. a motorized one) he was refering to certain antennae in that require a power feed because they have a built in amplifier. If you have such and antenna (common on VW/Audi/Seat) then you will get poor reception if you do not supply power to the antenna amplifier.

I had this problem too. I didn't realise that my BMW had an amp in the antenna line. Once I'd connected the Blue antenna power line to the White (IIRC) wire in my wiring loom (as instructed by Hugo) it worked much much better.
