I connected everthing together and it works just fine. However, when I turn off the key it will continue to stay on? I connected all the wires correctly per the manual. My other HU is on top and it powers down no problem, and their connected to the same wires? I connected both the yellow and the orange to a ignition off source. This way there is no battery drain with the key off. My memory presets stay also, even for the radio function. What's going on???

I connected both the yellow and the orange to a ignition off source.

The yellow and orange wires should not be connected to the same source. That is most likely the cause of the problem.

I don't remember the color coding, but one of them (I think the yellow wire) should be connected to a constant power source. The other one should be connected to an ignition-switched power source.

This is very clearly described in the manual that comes with the player. It is also standard practice for every other car stereo, including your other head unit.

Not totally sure... but about 80% sure that it is the other way around.

I connected all the wires just like the manual said. But when the key is turned off the Rio is still powered. You can see the power light is still on. I tested all the wire with test light, so I know they were correct. My other head unit turns off when you turn the key to off, but the Rio does not. I have plenty of experience with car audio but this one is stumping me. there is only 2 power wires..how hard can that be?

The empeg is set to go on standby when you turn off the car. It then has a timer to completly shut off power. I think its set default to 60 seconds, im not sure though. You can change this in Emplode under File --> Configure Player --> Shutdown

Oh really? This could be my situation. I was thinking about a power down timer built-in but thought twice about my wiring instead. I will check the delay in Emplode

Sorry. When you said that the unit "stayed on", I thought you meant it kept playing.

Again, this is in the FAQ, but since you didn't realize it was in standby mode, I understand why you wouldn't have found it. Even if you'd searched for it, you probably wouldn't have recognized it.

Well, I'm glad I left myself that 20% out.

Yellow is constant power ("Memory") with the 3-amp fuse.

Orange is switched by the ignition ("Ign Sense").
