Anyone heard/own a set of MB Quart's QSD component speakers? There is an auction on eBay for 5 new pairs of QSD 216's for $589 http://cgi.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1328827392 , which they claim are unopened. Does anyone think this is a good deal? The set retails for $1500.

I'd pick em up. Just remember, that MB Quart probably won't honor the warranty unless they are from an authorized dealer. Says so on their site. I bought a set from ebay a year ago, no problems... but YMMV.

There is an auction on eBay for 5 new pairs of QSD 216's for $589

As long as you are aware that this is a DUTCH AUCTION. You are not bidding on 5 new pairs (actually, the auction says 6) of QSD-216's -- you are bidding on one pair (unless you specify more) and your bid price is per pair not for all of the sets.

From the auction notice:

"This is a Dutch Auction (Multiple Item Auction) - it features multiple quantities of an item. All winning bidders pay the same price - the lowest successful bid at the end of the auction. Dutch Auctions (Multiple Item Auctions) do not use proxy bidding. "

Forgive me if you are an experienced ebayer and knew this already -- I just don't want you to get any unpleasant surprises here so I am acting like you might not know.

Thanks for the advice. I should have said $589 EACH pair. Yeah I know eBay pretty well. It says 6 now, but I'm pretty sure that it said 5 yesterday. Since there are no bids they can change the info.

I'm not sure I'd buy a pair without reading a review of some sort. I can't find anyone who has actually heard them. The local dealer doesn't stock them and besides they want $1200 plus tax.

If they are any better than their PSC 216's (which i would assume they are seeing as how they are 3 times as costly), then i'd say they sound amazing. Haven't heard them myself, but i've been incredibly happy with my Quart's. If you can afford it, i'd snag 'em.
