Hi, does so already got the same?
After installing the empeg (RioCar 30g w/o tuner / v2b7) inside a new car, the front (usualy blinking) LED doesn't blink anymore. It stays on, 'til the end of the car timeout. Everything works fine, except that.

This can depend on what visual you have selected (due to the LED behaviour being set by the VFD databit which might be wiggling)...

It's not depending on the selected visual, I can put the info screen, or an other vis, it's still the same...
nb: at home, the LED's blinking.

I think I have to be more precise:
my 2 empegs do the same:
@home:
on: LED off
standby: LED blinking
@car1-VW Polo (self install):
on: LED on
standby: LED on
@car2-Audi A3 (professional install):
on: LED off
standby: LED blinking
differences between the 2 installs:
in car1, I connected the amp remote to the ign. switch wire instead of amp remote wire (blue wire), cos this wire was always on. Is this normal?
nb: I already changed the 2 wires (ign. switch & power), due to VW home 'iso' connector.

Yup, that's the problem, your player is wired incorrectly. The amp remote wire should not be connected to the ignition switched wire.
I'm surprised the player works at all. There should be a whole host of other strange things happening with it above and beyond the LED problem. I'm amazed you didn't blow a fuse or something.

OK, but that was the only way I found to solve the problem.
When I connected the amp remote to the amp remote blue wire, it didn't work: the amp was staying on, either the ignition was on or not. So what's the matter?
Could you explain me why a fuse should be blown? I'm a beginner with electrics...

I don't know. From your own admission, you've got it wired wrong, and getting the wiring correct is the most basic and important thing about installing any car stereo. I don't think anyone will be able to help you diagnose any problems until it is wired correctly.
If you don't know how to wire it correctly, try some of these sites for help.

ok, I fixed the problem.
for those who could get the same:
the empeg amp remote wire (the 2 blue wires going to the ISO connector) are pluged in a slot. In the corresponding VW ISO connector slot, a constant 12v red wire is pluged (e.g. for VW GPS install), and that's resulting a power overload for this pin. By luck it didn't blown something, but it might...
What I did is I just disconnected the 2 blue wires pin from the empeg ISO connector, and islolated it. And now everything works fine.
So, why the amp remote (& power antena) wire is connected back to the ISO connector???

The empeg connector is correct according to the standard. The VW pin out is incorrect. Any installer should be aware that VW "ISO" connectors are not wired according to the standard - I believe they also swap the permanant and accessory power pins.

Yeah, of course, but that was a standard VW ISO stuff, but here it's very dangerous...

my question was:
In which goal the amp remote is connected back to the ISO con. (the empeg already feads it) ???

yes rob, they do, i had to swap mine when i did my gti install.
BTW< now that you have added a deck, use that stereo wire from the security system to add a shock, tilt and radar motion sensor to your factory alarm.
at vwvortex.com it is referred to as the rockstar ghetto alarm mod. As good or better then aftermarkets and doable for about 60$. Just some advice, the VW factory system is great..if no one breaks a window and climbs in through it. Let me know if you need more detail.

I feel you may have misunderstood the function of the amp remote line of the empeg. It is an output line. It will go live when you turn on the empeg, signalling an amp to turn itself on.
Make sure you understand which lines are inputs and which are outputs. Then always connect an output to an input. In one of your posts you desribed that you connected the amp output to the ignition switch, which is of course also an output. I am, like Tony, surprised that you didn't break anything inside the empeg, as two outputs connected to each other usually mean big trouble. Must be the excellent empeg design that saved you here! :-)
Side note: although the amp line of the empeg is an output, it is not designed to deliver all the power an amp needs. So don't hook up your amp's power supply input to it - use your amp's power sense input line instead.
Daniel

tnx for your explanation Daniel, but I already know that.
What I said concerning the amp remote wire (connected to the ign sw.) was for the real amp wire, not the empeg blue wire. In this case it was working. But now all my wires are correct. It was due to the VW ISO power connector scheme: the 2 blue wires from empeg ISO were corresponding to a permanent 12v red wire for VW ISO, and that was the big problem. now I isolated this connection and everything works fine. The only thing I want to know is: why the empeg's power antenna & amp remote wires (ouput line) go back to the ISO power connector, which normaly receive power from the car, and not from the empeg??? In which goal is it for?

If the car has a stock amplifier controlled by the HU, it is probably wired in the same connector/harness as everything else...
Also, once you've wired up the ISO connector part that 'belongs' to the car, you can pull everything at once (ignoring speakers and/or RCAs). I removed the extra 12V lead from the VW ISO connector (removed contact from connector, isolated with shrink tubing and taped back along the wiring loom). I then stole another (unused) lead/contact from another connector I had around and put that into the connector and connected that to the wire going to my amp.
If I ever want to revert to stock VW layout I just remove that contact and reinsert the taped back 12V lead, and switch back the switched and constant 12V feeds.

That's exactly what I did after finding the problem.
Tnx Michael.
Somebody know a car using this connection (by default)? (amp remote blue wire)

Err - the wires go to the ISO connector because they're supposed to be there according to the ISO standard. A car which has an ISO connector and a powered antenna (or amplifier) should comply with this standard - if not, you have to make some changes.

should comply with this standard
Bah, why spoil all the fun?
When you instead can have a connector that is physically identical to an ISO connector but have half the wires different from the standard...

I think this will help a lot of VW/Audi owners!
And beware of the uggly pin 7, the 12v red wire!
This one connects to the 2 blue wires pin from empeg connector and can seriously damage your empeg if not removed (from empeg connector)!!!
It happened to me -empeg still alive- but please,
don't try this at home (or rather in car ;-)

You said that the led could blink depending on the selected visual, don't you? Never seen this!? Which visual(s)? Could you explain?

I think he means that the led can blink erraticly while in standby mode depending on the visual thats currently selected.
