Im just recently learned about empeg and am considering getting one but was wondering if it can be used as a portable hard drive for files other than mp3s. For example, can i use it to transfer large documents from home to work?

Sure, just set up ftp on it by loading mark's kernel and your gtg.

Yes. If you install FTP services on it (terribly easy now, with Mark Lord's Hijack kernel), it's like having a portable FTP site. Works fantastic.

If you use USB instead of ethernet, there are other options, such as EmpegTaxi.

I've used several different methods of using my player as a multi-gigabyte file taxi, and they all work with varying degrees of ease-of-use.

Better get one soon, before they're gone for good.
