So with the amazing Hijack, you can point your web browser to

http://your.empeg.ip.address/drive0/fids/101?.html

and surf your empeg's playlists. There's a 'Play' button for each song; when clicked, the song is streamed to your PC and played by whatever mp3 player you have installed. So you could stream tunes all around your house for example. If it weren't for firewall issues, I could stream my tunes to work!

As a suggestion, I'd like to see two buttons: 'Play' and 'Stream'. The first would cause the empeg to play the song or list, while the second would stream it to the PC. Doable? Difficult?

I guess the suggestion really just goes to Mark, but I'm posting it to the forum for people who may not know about the streaming feature. Also, others may want to comment on the idea or hear Mark's answer...

I need a nice pretty Icon for "Play-on-Empeg", say 16x16 or so, that can be embedded into the kernel source code. That's why it's not there today ("Play-On-Empeg" is kinda long..).

Fair enough; here are some ideas. 16x16 is tough.

[Does the forum not take png? I've attached a zip of PNGs]

Play:

Stream:

Maybe just an empeg 'e' for play and a PC icon for stream?

I'd say make 32 pixel versions as well. 16px is way too small for a high resolution display.

No 32-pixel versions. Mark asked for 16 pixels for two reasons:

1) File size. This has to squeeze into the kernel, where every byte counts.

2) Display. The icons will be on the lines of HTML text along with the song titles, and therfore must be no taller than the text itself.

Mmm.. first, apologies to anyone who saw my brief pre-caffeine stupor, where I mistook the 'e' for MSIE rather than empeg.

Now.. I've looked at this, and pondered for a while, and.. I'm going to back away from this idea -- I'd rather implement the XML/whatever concept to make it possible for you folks to create a multitude of ultra-fancy graphical skins for this thing.

So, thanks (nice icons, and I like .PNG), but let's not distract efforts from the better way to do all of this.

Cheers

Sorry I kind of dropped the ball on this one. I'll be making a new thread to discuss the format of the xml paradigm soon. I'm at work now, and a meeting in a second, but I'll get it together ASAP.
