Ok I know this may be only a concern to like five people, but... with my SAAB headunit the powered antenna doesn't extend unless the tuner is selected. You can play a CD or cassette and the antenna will stay down and I think that is really nifty. Will the mark 2's have a way to leave the powered retractable antenna down during mp3 play???

My 2001 Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder does this too. I have no idea how it's controlled, or, for that matter, how I'm going to install my Empeg. (There's physical space for it below the factory unit, but I don't know how the wiring will turn out...)

A lot of aftermarket head units (and presumably any factory unit that's used on cars with power antennas) have a power antenna wire, that works basically like an amp remote turn-on wire, but instead of turning on with the head unit, it turns on with the tuner.
I don't remember anything mentioning the Empeg having a power antenna lead. Your best alternative might be to wire up a conveniently located switch that will allow you to raise and lower your antenna at will. Yes, it's an extra step, but it's probably more aesthetically pleasing than leaving your antenna up all the time.

Hm. Wow, I was hoping that the Empeg had a lead for this...
Are we SURE that the Mark II will NOT have this?
I installed a power antenna in my Miata because I hated that the antenna was up all of the time. I DON'T want it to stay up if I'm not using the tuner...

The tuner module isn't finalised yet; I'll see what can be done ;)

One wish list feature this may impair is the ability to be alerted to traffic announcements when MP3's are playing.
Just figured I'd drop that in, since thats one thing I will definitly want if I end up moving to LA anytime soon.

Curently the EMPEG has a allways on lead that can be used as a remote for either a amp or to control the antena power booster suplied with the EMPEG, or if you like can also be used to triger the power antena. But as this is a always on lead (only on when the empeg is on though), the antena will extand even in MP3 mode.
As to the trafic / news service via the RDS system, any system should be able to pick these up with the power booster, even if the arial is down, so as soon as news signal is recieved, it could still be triggered. I reciently tested somthing simalar to this, my friends ALPINE system had no power booster but with a audio quality of about 4 out of ten with the arial down, it was still able to pickup and recieve the news signal and extend the areial to give a 10 out of 10 audio quality.

Not yet, no. The tuner is likely to be a bit late, we've had our hands full keeping the mk2 production moving! We've got a working prototype, it just needs to be finished off for production. Hopefully there shouldn't be any problems with this, as it's a pretty simple board.

So is there a chance for the rest of the 1000-patch to come with tuner already? Or will it come later? How are things going on with the rest of ..?

No, the tuner will come later for everyone in the first 1000 probably. Sorry, it's been hectic!
