This IS lame. Funny how both of these boxes debut'd at the same CES show YEARS ago (96? or something) and were all the buzz but NOW it is an issue (now that money is being made). However nice TiVo is, I have always sided with RePlay in their reluctance to side with TV Studios and networks. TiVo basically sold out and is owned by them. This stance goes WAY back before I even knew of the empeg.

There is a window to sue for patent infringement.. As long as you stay within that window then you can sue.

If SonicBlue did indeed violate the patent then more power to Tivo for waiting to recoup their costs and possible loss of revenue.

Besides, I doubt Tivo had the financial capability to carry out a lawsuit in 1996..
