i am having problems with my remote. it just stops working sometimes. it will be working fine for a while then it will just stop working. sometimes taking the battery out and putting it back in will make it work again but sometimes not. sometimes i just have to wait for it to decide to work again. its a new battery. does anyone know what is causing this and if so, how to fix it?

I have a similar issue. My remote battery is brandy new and yet it stops working. Seems that if I hold the remote waay back from the empeg it sometimes works that way. Otherwise, nada.

My problem is different from what the FAQ describes. My buttons on the empeg continue to work while the remote dies...

The FAQ describes two separate things. (1) dead battery. (2) 2.0beta bug. I will now go make that more clear.

It also alludes to poor contacts within the remote.

Yes, but it's not a dead battery issue. When my remote stopped working, I swapped the battery into a friend's remote and it worked fine.

As I've stated before, it's a problem with poor contacts in the remote. Some remotes seem to make a better contact with the battery than others.

I just removed the section of the FAQ that alluded to poor contacts. It's important to debug the problem by first buying an actual new battery. Without taking that step, one could be fooled into thinking it's the contacts when in fact the whole time the battery was just low.

Yeah, I need to try getting a new battery to fully test my hypothesis. The weird thing is that it's intermittent. It'll stop working, but then when I get it to work, it'll work for weeks. Then the process starts over.

I bought a riocar remote and it's stopped working. My Kenwood remote works fine. Is this a v2 bug or faulty remote?

I can see the kenwood in hijack button codes, no go for the rio though :-(

I've swapped batteries and still only the Kenwood works.

I can't believe I have to say this...

Did you try buying a new battery?

ok, i replaced the battery and it still does the same thing. only works some of the time. so i know now that it is the remote and not the battery. i bought my empeg second hand through ebay and the warranty only applies to the original purchaser and does not transfer to me. is there anything i can do other than buying a new remote?

You still have to narrow it down to whether it's the remote or the player's IR sensor...

Get or borrow either a digital camera or a camcorder. Point your tv remote at your television. Press the volume up or down to verify that your television remote works. If it does control the volume, point it at your camcorder or digital camera and see if the little light in the remote is flashing. This will tell you if your digital camera or camcorder sees infrared. If it does see your tv remote's l.e.d., you can use it to check your RIO brand remote l.e.d... Any questions???
