In the car, it is rated as a 4v output. Using the RCA's on the back, while plugged to home power, it is 1v.

The player has 4v line-level RCA outputs.

The words "high" and "low" are relative, they mean different things in different places. It depends on who's asking the question.

If speaking in terms of line-level-only, it's "high".

If speaking in terms of amplified versus unamplified, it's "low".

What situation are you asking this question for? Please supply more information.

im finally ordering an interface cable for my 2001 nissan pathfinder. im ordering a PAC OEM-1 unit. There are two choices for an "A" cable (cable connecting stereo to pac oem-1), RAD-RCA (4 chan low level) and RAD-UNV (4 chan high level. any ideas or does it even matter.

Be careful, sometime "high-level" refers to "speaker level" which is way stronger than any RCA output..

For example, car audio amps usually have both RCA level and speaker level inputs...

RAD-RCA Universal harness for low level RCA output headunits (4 channel)

RAD-UNV Universal harness high level speaker output headunits (4 channel)

So based on this your saying go with the RAD-RCA? I thought "speaker" was a misprint but I have NO car installation experience

Ah, cool. Having installed an OEM-1, I have personal experience with this. You want RAD-RCA. In this case, high and low are referring to amplified and unamplified.

Note that the OEM-1 will only work in cars that have a factory amplifier built-in that powers all of the speakers. Make sure your car is one of the ones supported by the OEM-1.

also having used/installed a oem-1 would recommend it.

I think there's a typo or two in that sentence, I believe you're asking me a question, would I recommend the OEM-1?

I think it's very car-specific as to whether it works well for a particular vehicle. For the vehicle I installed it in, it was fantastic and made the installation very simple. Don't know how your car will come out. Photos of and comments about the OEM-1 install I did are here.
