Hi all,

Anyone out there developing an ncurses version of emplode, or an ncurses layer over emptool? Since I'm not (currently) running X (or windows or mac) at home, that rules out jEmplode. I'd like a console tool that's prettier/
easier-to-use/more-feature-rich than emptool is.
If no one else is working on such a project, I'll undertake the task myself (as RealLife (tm) allows).

I was thinking implemention in perl -- arguments for/against perl vs. c or c++?

Thanks,

If it was written in C you could run it on the player itself over a telnet session. That would be kind of spiffy.

After thinking about that overnight, I can't see what purpose would be served by running an emptool-like program on the player itself. I mean -- emptool is to connect to a player, upload playlists, and manage the database, is it not?

Well I didn't say it wreaked of usability

It was my only thought on why it would matter. I was sort of hoping someone else would have a use for the idea and mention it.

Hmm... I suppose it could allow you to muck around with playlists and tags from any machine you can connect with, no matter if emplode is installed on said machine. Of course, if you can't get emplode on it, what't the chances you'll be able to connect a serial/usb/ethernet cable?

Now other people are correcting grammar mistakes. (We really need a better viewing method for this board. There are way too many branches off of each thread.)

Ah, I see. I turn off my internal grammar and spell checking tools when reading stuff from the great unwashed hordes, as long as they don't use any l33t h4ck3r spelling.
