Newbie question;

I brought my MKIIa into work and decided to upload some songs. I just happened to be one of the lucky ones that can't use USB/Emplode with my XP Pro system (error connecting.) So just for laughs I found an old DB-9 to DB-9 serial cable and connected it to see it it was the correct pin-outs and null connection that the player needed. Unfortunately, it was.

Forgetting about what type of connection I was using I started a transfer of about 30 songs. Needless to say the serial speed issue is now VERY apparent.

For the sake of not leaving my player at work all weekend to finish the transfer my question is: Just how dangerous would it be to kill (not gracefully mind you) the transfer with a "simulated power failure?" Would I risk DB corruption?

Personally, I would (and have in the past) just pull the serial cord, and then the power plug five seconds later, and then plug them back in again. The player will sit there and try to rebuild it's database, after a 10-20 minute filesystem check, and then "come up". But to ensure things are okay, fire up Emplode and do a sync, without adding any new tunes.

Should be fine.

Worked exaclty as you said. Thanks for the advice.

This time around I used the serial cable to set the ;@work parameter and I'm now transferring over the network.

Thanks again for the help.
