OK, I noticed many people on the "US Owners meet, Mark 2" thread voted for a DC area/Maryland meet. I'd be game. How many want to make this happen?

I was actually thinking of posting something today about drumming up interest for an East Empeg owners meet. I have been following the thread planning the owners meet in SF.. and wish I had the time to drive out there.

But... I would definitely be interested in attending, and assisting with planning a meet for us easterners. I'm in Baltimore, and willing to travel a radius of about 150 miles or so (maybe more).

Perhaps we should see who and how many are interested, then vote/decide on a more central location for those interested.

I have several friends with Empegs that I would count in as being interested as well. (When they saw my empeg they went out and bought their own)

The guys planning the meet out west talking about all these breweries made me think about the Baltimore Brewery, Mmmmm beer. There are also some good breweries/restaurants in Annapolis (Rams head brewery, etc...) and isn't too far for DC/Baltimore folks. Plus, it seems we have a lower concentration of owners (at least so I think..>), so initially parking may not be a concern, but it all depends...

Lets first see how many would be interested and go from there.

Any chance on getting people to go up to Boston? It looks like their plans are further developed, and have more people interested - including mlord. I'm willing to drive up.

I am still interested in a localized meet around here, maybe something small - or try to plan something bigger later in the summer, but I don't want to step on anyone's feet...

I'd be up for it and I know two other new owners who might swing by too, if it's close. They might not have their players installed yet, depending on when it is. I will have to help at least one of them with the install.

Anyway, I think it would be even better if we could combine it with some other event....maybe some festival or race or something. I don't really know what's coming up soon.

I like auto racing so I know there is the first annual American LeMans Series (ALMS) race at RFK here in DC-- but that is not until July. I know there is an Indy car race in June in Nazareth, PA (about 3.5 hour drive from DC--might get some Pittsburgh/Philly/NY owners if there are many up there ).

When is the Preakness? Doesn't Balitmore also have a big Blues fest sometime in the spring or summer? Anyway, you get the idea...anyone have any ideas along those lines?

I nominate pycckuu or Sheetzam ;-) (or anybody) to keep this thing going, maybe even through e-mail to everyone who responds.

I'm interested, sure. I attempted to join the folks at the last DC area meet but was late getting there...missed by an hour or two. It's a tad far of a drive from New Jersey, but I wouldn't want to miss the fun again.

If enough people are willing to drive to PA (35 miles west of Philly, just east of Lancaster), our place might be suitable. Use of the lift to help with installs if wanted, plus if anyone is looking to dyno their car...

Well, I'm going to the Boston meet. And kinda hoping there might be another rock climber or two around to stop in at the Gunks on the way back. Laura says she's interested it giving it a try, also. Could be a ton of fun!

Sure, I'd be down. We tried to plan one last year, and only 4 people showed up. But it was some good times.

Well, it sounds like there are at least a few people interested. That is a Good Thing™. I too was turned on to the empeg from a buddy at work, so I can probably get him to come too.

In order to encourage the PA/NJ/NY crowd to come, I would be willing to drive as far north as Philly (about 2 hours from DC) for the meet.

I am a member of http://www.crownvic.net/ and we have had several meets in the parking lot of the Ikea at White Marsh Mall. White Marsh is just north of Baltimore, about an hour and 15 mins from DC. It seems to be a decent compromise for empeggers in the general DC/Baltimore/Philly/Southern NJ area. We even had a few people drive down from NYC (about 3 hrs).

Nice thing about White Marsh is that there are plenty of nearby restaurants as well as a mall with a food court.

I think I may be going to the Boston area meet - I think it is tentatively sched for May 11. If I go, I'll probably go with some of my friends - so anyone else interested would be invited to convoy with us.

Meanwhile - I'm still interested in attending a meet locally. White Mush Mall is about 10 minutes away from me - so no complaints there.

What time frame is everyone looking at, because I'm running out of weekends from now until early June.

What would be a good weekend for everybody to meet?

Hmm probably not until sometime after May. I'm probably going to the meet in Boston on May 11, and the rest of my weekends are pretty filled up until mid-June.
