I've been trying to get IrDA set up on my Dell C610 for the
last 2 days (within XP). The driver for the IR port come up fine in
device manager, but I have no wireless link program in
the control panel.

I have tried setting the IR up in the BIOS using COM1
through COM4, with slow IR and fast IR settings as well.

I get the following two error messages in my event viewer
no matter what I do:

The IrDA Protocol service failed to start due to the
following error: The system cannot find the file
specified.

&

The Infrared Monitor service depends on the IrDA Protocol
service which failed to start because of the following
error: The system cannot find the file specified.

Not sure what file it's referring to...

Any ideas on how I might be able to fix this?

Have tried:

- reinstalling XP from scratch (over the existing copy)
- uninstalling and reinstalling the IrDA driver and several other drivers
