If you don't post for a while will your "status" i.e. journeyman, member, addict, etc. start to reverse?

No, it is based on total posts... someone here knows the actual increments. When I passed 1,000 posts, I became an "old hand". Tony's title is a custom one because he is the only one to get that many posts!

I think there was a bug or perhaps a deliberate modification on Paul's part where I got stuck at "old hand" for a very long time. Recently he did something to change that, don't know if he made it permanent or simply added another scale level?

Ack, Rob, Hugo, Mark, and I better slow down then or we'll have to become FAQ editors! The horror!

O.K. Than which is higher, member ot journeyman. I seem to remember being promoted to journeyman FROM member, and now I'm at member again.
edit: Not that I care...I'm just curious

Yeah nobody's ever going to catch tfabris, but if FAQ Master were a new level at, say, 5000 posts, I think it'd be funny if people hit that and were suddenty being called FAQ Masters. But I'm sure it's just a custom title that was given to Tony unrelated to the # of posts.
I think it'd be pretty slick if people who hit a certain level could type in their own title. I'd set mine back to newbie just for grins and giggles.

Or he may have set up a new level ... say at 8000, and called it FAQ Master. By the time anybody gets close, Tony will be at 12,000 and the levels will probably get updated. By then, he'll be Uber-FAQ Masterito

Ummm, it's in the BBS FAQ. Click on the ``BBS FAQ'' link towards the top of the page and search for ``ourneym'' or something similar.

Mark will catch Hugo by the end of this month. He'll probably catch Rob by the summer. I suspect given the current level of activity, he'd probably catch Tony sooner or later (a couple of years, but he'd get there )
I haven't been keeping up as much and I don't have any plans to increase monitoring/posting, so I'll probably be off the list soon.

Yeah... it's just a number. Without the hundreds of people who lurk, or the dozens who post semi-reguarly, we "windbags" in the top 10 would have no reason to post anyway. I first registered on the board waaaaaaaay back (before Tony even) but I didn't have much reason to post until the community grew and people started discussing things semi-regularly. The top ten listing kinda trivializes what really makes the community tick... But it is kinda fun to follow Mark Lord's ascension into the stratosphere. Did he pass me today?

Wouldn't it be cool if Infopop could list a top ten of all their sites? I'd be interested in seeing where our Tony falls. I know some folks at Arstechnica have insane amounts of posts. I wonder who has the most

We'll see if I can get to pooh-bah by the end of the month... All I know is that one minute Mark was at about the same number of posts as me and then boom. He's 300 up. I felt as if I'd been sleeping for a few weeks.
I skip a lot of threads now. I also haven't been demonstrating the patience needed to find all the threads that I've previously posted to (that's one feature I wish they'd add to this program). And in the threads I don't skip, I get lazy sometimes and just think.... Tony or Tony or ... will be by in about 2 minutes to reply. Or Bitt to correct someone's grammar. Ha.
