After installing the player (RioCar 30gb) and using it for a few days with no problems, now all I get is the boot logo "Rio". Can't get the player to do anything unless I take it out of the car and plug it into A/C power, then the unit operates perfectly. Any Ideas?
Also, if I wanted to clear the entire player and start fresh, could that be done easily?

First, check here, it might just be a cable problem.

However, your indication that it works fine on AC power but not on DC power makes it sound like a wiring problem with the car installation. Please check all wiring connections and make sure you have full continuity and proper power on all of them. For instance, make sure the fuse on the constant power wire is not blown, make sure the 12v switched really is 12v switched, make sure the constant 12v really is constant 12v, etc.

You also might be running constant 12v on a too-thin wire and it's not supplying enough juice to spin up the drives.

Yes it is possible to clear the entire player and start fresh. However, you should not need to do this. It is much easier to simply delete all of the songs and playlists. Your problems most likely do not stem from anything you've loaded onto the player.

Thanks for the quick reply. I'll run out to my truck and check the connections with a test light right now.

BTW, Already checked that entry in the FAQ. Didn't feel it was exactly the same thing because I can still use the unit on A/C. Thanks

If you've got a genuine multimeter, please use that to make sure all the voltages are what you expect.

Also make sure all the wires are doing what they're supposed to do. For instance, make sure that you haven't wired the headlight-sense line to the constant power, connected the amp remote to something other than the amp's remote line, etc.

That didn't take long to figure out. Turns out there was a relay used during a previous head unit install that was interupting the "constant" power lead I had used. I seems that the player was getting "switched" power only which does allow the boot logo to appear (I guess?). Anyway, all fixed and back in action. Thanks

Well, I was joking earlier in this thread about the $20.00. I haven't rendered any services that require PAYMENT. However, as I said in another thread, I would never turn down gifts. My PayPal account is linked to my email address.
