I like my player to have a flat EQ at home and my custom setting in the car. I thought it already did this, but now I have Hijack installed (246) and it doesn't do this anymore. How can I get this to work? My apologies in advance if this is covered in the FAQ, as I could not find any information regarding this.

What do you mean by "It doesn't do this"? What does it do?

As in when I take my player inside and connect with the AC adapter it still has the EQ settings from in the car. I change the EQ to flat, and when I put it back in my car the EQ is still flat and I have to change it back to my custom setting. I thought it remembered "home" and "car" settings separately.

Ahh.

As far as I understood it, there are 2 complete set of 16 eq settings - one for AC mode and one for DC mode, so changes made to custom4 in AC mode wont show in custom4 in DC mode, but if you select custom9 in AC mode, then you will also start using custom9 in DC mode (albeit the DC's version of custom9).

Hijack isn't responsible for this part anyway - the player is responsible for selecting which eq to use.

When you move between home and car, it is not supposed to change the EQ preset number.

It remembers two completely separate groups of EQ presets for home and car.

Another way to look at it: Each EQ preset has a "home" and a "car" personality.

So, when you select EQ PRESET NUMBER FOUR, it's actually two presets: One that's active on AC power and one that's active on DC power. You should not expect the preset number to change when you move the player between home and car. However when you program the EQ bands for EQ PRESET NUMBER FOUR in the car, then bring it into the house, then EQ PRESET NUMBER FOUR will be differently programmed on the AC adapter power.

Clear as mud?

Hi Tony.

Easy to understand, even the reasoning behind that behaviour is clear (if I don't change the type of music, why would I want to change the type of EQ settings applied to it?), but still, I think it would be more transparent to the user if the number of the current EQ preset was also stored for AC and DC seperately.

Thanks for clearing that up. I will change my "custom" EQ when on AC power to a flat profile and i will have what I want. I guess I don't remember having changed it for the home setting in the first place. Sorry for the confusion.

Okay, I've added a new FAQ entry on this subject. Let me know if there's anything I need to add to that list.
