Having just received my Rio Car Player (40 Meg) I rushed down to the local stereo shop for installation. Being in the the most isolated state, they had never seen such a unit and had no idea how to install the player in my Expedition. They recommended completely removing the stock Mach stereo system, CD Changer etc. Before I agree to anything that drastic, I wanted to see if anyone has installed a player in an expedition or similar Ford before? Any help?

I haven't installed one in that vehicle but it is no different than installing any other headunit that doesn't have a build in amplifier.

if your car is a single din (only has space in the dash for one head unit) then about the only thing you can do is remove the stock head unit and install an amplifier unless you make some kind of custom mounting.

Did you read the Installation section of the FAQ?

I remember that there was someone arguing with a Mach system in a Mustang. I don't really know if that bears any resemblance to the system in your Explorer. I also don't remember what happened with it, but you might try searching on the board for ``Mach''.
