I was digging around for information on extended forcasts so I could see what the days would be like when I am learning to ride a motorcycle. I found this supposed one that predicts out to 18 months ahead, but looking at the past 30 days, they were way off for rain/snow chance here.

But I came across a nice movie animation of the movements of the high and low fronts for the past 14 days, and the estimated movement of them for the next 14 days. Here is their java applet for displaying it. Now this can't be used for too much info, but it can give you a general idea of rain chance based on the activity around your area. The dates I am scheduled for look completly clear of any front activity, so it should be at least a mostly clear day. Most of the time it rains heavially only when a low front around the south border tosses clouds into the mountains.

With this animation and a vasic understanding of weather, others here should be able to forcast their own weather, instead of relying on passed down information streaming from pictures much like this.

What kinda bike you got?

The Suzuki Bandit 600S.

I'm taking a class with a local company that is certified with the Motorcycle Satety Foundation. This is to brush up on my skills (I grew up around dirtbikes), and to learn the differences of street and dirt riding. After the class, all I have to do to get my license is take a piece of paper from the class to the DMV, and wait for it to be printed.

I need to talk to my bank about their loan offer. I figure an auto loan that is alone on my credit report should help quite a bit. Right now, I just have the loan on my existing car co-signed with a family member. But the loan will be pretty short, as I do have enough money tucked away for this (I don't like credit too much, I just want the possibility there for down the road).

Cool. I'm saving up to buy this bike. A Kawasaki KLR 650 dual purpose.

Those things are loud as shi[t] and the like to do their touch and gos at 5 in the morning and the landing pattern put them about 500 feet above my apartment. Of course I see the occasional F-22 with is sweet.

Have you figured out how the empeg will fit in there, Tony? I doubt it has a DIN sized slot available.

I figured I could mount it under the seat and integrate the display into the HUD.

Targeting will be tough with Hula Hoops running, though. I'd shoot at a hundred different places in the sky.

Ya know if it has a 12 volt supply cause your gonna need to find some power for an amp.

With my old car, the mounting angle and position for the stereo was such that the empeg display was automatically hudded (?) onto the windscreen. It wasn't perfectly clear, but at one stage I was seriously considering flipping the display and using the windscreen as the primary display. It would be pretty cool to mount an additional display facing up, right up under the windscreen.

And just a note, the above weather link has proven to be accurate. We had rain in the middle of the week as I was expecting, and all the weekend forcasts are saying it's going to be the perfect time to learn how to ride.

And It's funny to suprise a sales person and not make him have to do his job. I went into the store, talked to the guy who I had called earlier in the week, and walked to the show floor. I sat on the Bandit, he started talking about some things about it and some similar bikes, and I cut him off with "Well, what do we need to do to start the process for this one?". He was a bit suprised that he didn't have to pry the money away from me, and I let him know I had already done my research late last year, and had all winter to think about it.
