First off, I don't think I was breaking any rules. I own Alice In Chains' self-titled album, but on MD, and my player is broken

So I go about downloading the songs.
I find them all
I listen to the song "So Close"
It sounds wierd
I check the file info
It was encoded at 80KB/sec!!!

Can't these people hear??

That's why I use WinMX. You can sort by bitrate.

Yeah, and I also use AudioGalaxy and select high quality MP3 FTPs.

Oh, and I forgot another good source for MP3s, YOUR LIBRARY! I've got a buddy up in Canada that checks out cds every week and rips 'em. He's now got over 30,000 tracks, all encoded with the latest LAME, saved on a RAID setup. My library also has cds for rent, though they cost $1 per.
