I am going to install my RioCar this weekend, just wondering if I need my Alpine Graphic EQ/Digital Sound Processor anymore. Will the RioCar provide similar functions?

The empeg does have a very powerful EQ, but no digital sound processing functions.

If you really like the alpine unit's user interface, and if you like its DSP features, then you should keep it. But if you only ever leave it on one preset and never change it, then you might just disconnect it and see if the empeg's EQ is to your liking.

It also has 3 sets of preamp outs, which would be quite convenient if you have subs in the trunk and want to control them seperatly.

thanks for the advice so far. I was actually set on getting rid of it, now I am thinking I should keep it. My plan is two have a JL Audio W7 in a sealed enclosure in the trunk, so I guess having control of the sub will be a nice feature to have.
It also looks nice at night.

Two W7's? You're going to need some way to turn those suckers down. But then, you <i>really<i/> don't need the seperate front and back RCAs as long as you don't constantly feel the need to adjust the fading from rear to front. If it was me, I wouldn't want a seccond thing in my dash if I could avoid it, just because it doesn't look as good, and the A/D/A conversion can't be a good thing. (I actualy have a 2nd HU for a tuner, but that's not really by choice)

One W7 only...those suckers are mucho dinero. I am still debating the issue of keeping it or selling it. If I sell it, it will help me pay for the rest of my install/system. I just don't want to be sorry down the line. I also have a tuner which is going in, is the tuner as good as one that might be in my Alpine 7940 HU?
