Could someone who knows the area well please write detailed descriptions for reaching the Empeg Meet at The Boat House?

I'm referring to more than what you can get from MapQuest. For instance, in another thread a couple of months ago, I was being told that there's certain roads I'd want to avoid that MapQuest would be telling me to take.

Things to keep in mind:

- This will be at Noon on Saturday, so maybe the expected traffic needs to be taken into account. For instance, rush hour traffic might not be a factor. Or would it?

- I'm going to be coming from San Jose, from an address right next to the airport off of 101. Others will be coming from the I-5 and I-80 corridors. So directions from multiple starting points would be helpful.

Anyone willing to do this? If they're good directions, maybe I'll make up a printable map/directions page to add to the signup sheet at riocar.org.

I need good directions as well. Mapquest's directions are pretty straight-forward to get me onto I-80 west. Better directions past that point would be great.

Someone needs to bring a bunch of stickers and marking pens so folks can fill in their names and BBS handles and stick them on their shirts.

I know that it's kind of goofy to do that, and you feel stupid with this sticker on you, but I think it's a useful thing for this kind of meet. Anyone agree?

Even though I won't be there I think that would be a good idea Tony, makes the introductions less hassle.

Rob thats one long drive from NY

I can bring name tags. If I get a list of attendees before hand I could have some printed up for the registered attendees.

How many people are still coming?

That's a great idea! Contact Drakino for the list of attendees. The list is over thirty last I heard.

Ok, I was hanging out in san francisco tonight so I went by the boathouse. (Didn't have time to go in as I had to see star wars(Mini Review: DLP is good, George Lucas could never write dialog in the first place) I printed out directions from map quest and honestly had no problems following them, and nothing really needed to be added...

Bay area traffic wise, saturday shouldn't be a problem at all. There will be traffic, but it won't be that bad. If you're coming up from the peninusula, take 280 instead of 101 (you can always cut over on 380 to 280 right before s.f. if you insist on driving down the heart of silicon valley to ooh and ahh over the failed .com's)

From the east bay, I can attest that the directions that map blast will give you from market onwards are as good as you're going to get anywhere.

I realize this isn't as through as you were asking for, but it honestly shouldn't be that hard to find.

I only have a list of names for the main people attending, and not their friends, but contact me if you are making labels for the list.

Right now we have 24 names signed up, and 39 total people attending. Can someone in the area call the Boat House and let them know we expect 40 to 50 people for the empeg meet? I believe they already are expecting us, they just wanted a rough number a week ahead.

I tried to find a phone number for them on the web but couldn't. Anyone have it? Was it mentioned in an earlier thread?

Look them up under "boathouse" without a space and you'll find it. Boathouse Sports Club Grill (415) 681-2727. I was beginning to think the place didn't exist yesterday when I was looking it up...

Ah, yes, didn't realize they didn't have a space in their name.

So who's gonna call them?

I went ahead and confirmed a number of 40-50, they still had us down. It's under Andrew's name still, I just called to confirm the number. So, everything is set, should be a good time.
