Im trying to clone 2 Mk1's with the Rio Clone Wizard via USB. But when i click find units, it only finds the 1. The second one comes up as: 'Found unit: (0) on' and doesn't let me clone them.

Also, if this doesnt work - how can I backup the 1 empeg onto my PC's hard drive (retaining the file structure) and then copy this onto the other empeg??

HELPPPPP Please
Cheers

Post deleted -- I didn't see the "mark 1" bit.

Um, can you repost the response you deleted. I had the exact problem that the original poster had but I am using Mark II.

Additional Info, I have a dual boot machine between 98 and 2k. Under 98, emplode can only see one of the units on the USB port. Under 2k, emplode sees both but when I run the Clone wizard, I get the zero on one of the Empeg rather than the serial number.

If what the FAQ says about the ethernet option is true, it appears that I would be better off building the whole playlist structure manually rather than trying to set up the ethernet unless someone has a quick and dirty procedure on how to do this.

I would like to get the database and the music duplicated to the other empeg in an unattened mode somehow even if it means using the serial ports! I don't care how fast it is. I'll just run it over night.

Essentially, it was:

http://www.differentpla.net/~roger/empeg/car/cloning.html
http://www.differentpla.net/~roger/empeg/car/rsync.html

But that requires ethernet. However, networking isn't _that_ hard to set up -- you'll need a hub/switch (a cheap 4-port hub will do), and some cables to connect the empegs. You don't have to connect your PC if you don't want to, though I recommend that you do -- synchronisation is up to twice as fast on ethernet vs. USB.
