I think those of us on the West Coast might have to compare pictures?

I'm pretty sure I'll be at the beach getting some pictures.

Looking at the data more closely, those in my neck of the woods will probably not be seeing the eclipse immediately at sunset. It'll just be early evening before sunset (5-7) and we'll get about 60 percent "bite". Besides, the sun would be just a small dot in the image with my camera, I don't have a telephoto lens for it or anything. Still, if things look interesting, like if the sunset is pretty anyway, I'll snap a few pictures.

Ohhh not true... I was in New England during what was I recall a 90%+ eclipse about 7 years ago... It was at around noon, very strange and surreal. It was really weird.

And Stephen King's _Gerald's Game_ is set during a total eclipse in New England that really did occur, I forget what year.

You just missed the boat this time, that's all...

Doesn't that say we'll get one here in 2017 too?

Hard to say what the visibility will be like here, sitting at the foot of a mountain range. I might head directly east after work to catch it if it's not visible in town. Unless we get a ton of smoke cover today, the wildfire situation around here is just getting worse. (500 acres per hour worse for the one in Glenwood Springs)

I drove up to Skyline and I sat on a bench at a vista point and watched the whole thing through a home made pinhole camera made using two pieces of cardboard pulled out of the garbage. It was a pretty good eclipse. It nearly completely occluded the sun.

Well I was right, no eclipse viewing here, smoke covered it up. And the Glenwood Springs fire is small compaired to the one near my families cabin. A mile an hour, and 10 miles outside the outskirts of Denver now. 80,000 acres burned last I knew, no containment whatsoever. No huges losses reported yet, but they haven't been able to get into Deckers to see what is left.

I drove to the cabin after work today, and it's right on the edge of where they are keeping people away. Evacuations were going on as I was going up. What a mess...

I was going to head to the beach and watch it, but then realized a few things:

a. It was overcast at the beach (at least according to the news)
b. The eclipse was over before sunset (I was under the impression it would be during sunset)
c. We had a kegger here at work

So, we all got drunk and had fun trying to make pinhole cameras and other strange contraptions to view the eclipse with. We were quite amazed at our shadows on the wall and how all circular shadows became crescents. Plus we had people in the background jamming on their instruments (mostly blues).

Was fun.

Well, it's not like it was random...

We were celebrating the release of our new version (7.2). We tend to party every time we complete a project like this.
