Dumb question, I know, but I can't seem to find the answer even after searching the bbs...

I can't toggle left and right between the various menu options using my Sony stalk remote (plugged into the tuner module, and enabled). One of the buttons allows me to choose whatever existing menu option is already "highlighted" (shown in large print), but no button seems to let me select between them to get to the actual menu option I want.

For example, I can hit "enter" remotely to bring up the Playlists, and then hit "enter" again to make it play the first playlist that it highlights, but I can't toggle back and forth between the playlists to select the one I want first.

What am I doing wrong?

What version of the software are you running? And have you tried twisting the little bits and also using the shift button?

Same problem here. Stopped working about ten or so Hijacks ago. Was going to remap with Hijack but haven't gotten around to it yet. The twisting works for everthing but the menu selections.

don't blame Mark
This is a known bug in 2.0 B11.

Check out the buglist forum for the details. There are no known fixes out yet.

Also, there are related Stalk issues with 2.0B11 that means the stalk commands are slow to be processed and in some cases the skip next track button can appear to become 'wedged' on in the player - which then proceeds to skip through the current track, to the next one etc all at high speed.

Oh, sorry, thought he said it stopped working on a certain version of Hijack.

Yes, probably when 2.0B11 was 'installed'!

Well, I am running 2.0 b11 - which, as I see from the replies here has a known problem with this! What a pity - in my mind this renders the stalk almost completely useless, as one of the main things one does when using the Empeg is access the menu and/or choose playlist tracks. Hopefully the next Beta will resolve it; meanwhile I can't see much use for the stalk myself.

Regarding the "shift" button, which button is that? I saw mention of it in the documentation - that holding the "shift" button down allowed additional functions - but it didn't say which button was the "shift" button. (Or if it did, I missed it.)

Shift is the vol+/vol- control on the stalk, pushing it in and holding it is reported by the Sony Stalk to the empeg as 'shift',
this means that all stalk buttons can be 'shifted' [except for vol+/vol- which is treated as shift seek+/seek-].

To use shift requires translations be setup but there are 6 extra functions the stalk can do.

BTW: the normal left/right buttons on the front panel work in the menu even when the stalk buttons don't, so you could work around the above bug by mapping the seek+/seek- stalk buttons to from button left or right when the menu is active in hijack without much bother.

Yes, I see the info at
http://empeg-hijack.sourceforge.net/stalk.html.

But I don't fully understand it, even after reading it over. I see how to get into config.ini but I am not clear on exactly what lines I would type in there to make this happen.

Could someone perhaps help me decipher this? What I should enter in config.ini to make these two specific changes (activate the shift function, and map it such that I can remote control the lef/right menu selection buttons)? It's not that I'm lazy, just stupid. :-)

Thanks for the help.

I suppose one could use Hijack to remap all of the affected stalk functions to non-stalk button code equivalents instead..

That's what I was going to do but have not had the time. Too busy ripping CDs.

Has anybody else had trouble with EAC not automatically selecting all the tracks on a CD?

Something like this in config.ini (I haven't tried it myself, though):

[ir_translate]
KNext=Right.U,KNext.N
KPrev=Left.U,KPrev.N

Or perhaps even simpler:

[ir_translate]
KNext=Right
KPrev=Left

I'd try the top (fancier) version first.

Cheers
